What a wonderful first week of school!  This week we reviewed place value and students can now recognize that a digit represents 10 times the value of what it represents in the place to its right.  In Language Arts, the students are in the process of writing a friendly letter to me telling me about themselves and their expectations for 4th grade. Students did a scavenger hunt in our Idaho History book and Mr. Fraas came in Friday afternoon to introduce what STEAM activities he will be doing with our class this year.  He talked about sensors and showed the students a facial recognition sensor which guessed a person’s age depending on their facial features.  I loved it because it said I was younger than I actually am.  🙂 Ask your child how old they were?  🙂  It was pretty accurate on some.  Mr. Fraas talked to the kids about some factors that might skew the results.  I think the kids are pretty excited.  I know I am!
