Academic News

This week in math, we practiced rounding using real world application along with adding multi-digit numbers using the standard algorithm.  We used place value charts to visualize why we carry over if we have more than 10 in a specific place on the place value chart.  In ELA, we focused on Theme of a story.  Students learned that Theme is the lesson the author wants to teach you.  We explored many stories and determined what the Theme was.  My favorite was Mr. Peabody’s Apple.  We had a great discussion with this book.  We also wrote Summaries with each of the stories and talked about the differences between Theme, Summaries and Main Ideas.  We will continue with Theme this next week.  In Idaho History, we will continue talking about the symbols of Idaho and students will make an Idaho Seal of their own.
