Newsletter November 4th

Date: November 2, 2019 Author: Mrs. Fraas Categories: Newsletter 0

The kids loved sharing the pictures of their costumes with the class!  I loved seeing them too!  I realize my poor kids are deprived (Costco costumes are as good as it gets at our house!)  There are some very crafty, creative parents in this class.  🙂   We had a blast at the Harvest Party!  Thank you so much to my party planners!  We couldn’t have done it without you…Literally!  I will send out pictures this weekend.

BOOK ORDERS
Book orders came home in Monday folders this past week and will be due Friday, November 8th. You can order online using our class code, H3P7Z. If you would like to order books for Christmas presents, just let me know and I will hold the books back and let you know when they arrive. 🙂

ZEARN
I have given each of the students their sign in and password for Zearn. Remember, students either need to complete 1 lesson or 20 minutes on Zearn per week. They will record their time on their reading log. The class code for Zearn is XK7B4V. You will need this code the first time your child signs on. I like Zearn because it reinforces our math lessons at school.

ACADEMIC NEWS
In math this week,  we multiplied three and four digit numbers by one digit numbers by applying the standard algorithm and partial products.  Please make sure your child is practicing their math facts at home.  From here on out, the math will be very difficult for them if they are not fluent in their multiplication facts.  A fun way to practice is math magician.  http://www.math-play.com/math-magician-multiplication-game/math-magician-multiplication-game.html  Thank you for sharing this website with me Elisha!  This next week, we will connect the area model and the partial products method to the standard algorithm.  In ELA, we worked on finding the main idea in a text and in Idaho History, students completed their group tribe books and have begun presenting them to the class.
