Common Core Math Curriculum

Over the past few weeks, we have learned different methods to solve both multi-digit multiplication and division problems.  Initially, this can be very confusing for students.  That is why I do not send math homework home.  The math we are completing in class is different than the math you and I did as kids.  There is a reason we teach the different methods to our students.  It is important that students understand more than just the algorithm.  They will continue to build upon each concept to solidify understanding.  You can help support your student in math by ensuring that they complete their homework each week as this reinforces what we are learning at school.  Also, students must be fluent in their multiplication facts through 10’s.  Please make sure your child is practicing these at home.  Thank you for your support!  It takes a village and I appreciate each of you!  🙂
