What a wonderful first full week of school.  This week we reviewed place value and students can now recognize that a digit represents 10 times the value of what it represents in the place to its right. In Language Arts, we learned about what a good summarization includes using the five finger summary method, types of sentences, subjects and predicates.

On Friday, I had 17 students give a speech as to why they wanted to be on Student Council.  First of all, I have never had so many students show interest in a leadership position like this.  I am so very proud of each and every one of these kids for being leaders and doing such a great job representing our 4th grade class.  Unfortunately, we could only select 3 students to be on Student Council.  I feel that nearly every one of the students who applied would have been wonderful for this job.  I hope they realize that.

Food for thought
Every child deserves a champion: An adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists they become the best they can possibly be.
