Common Core Math Curriculum

Over the past few weeks, we have learned different methods to solve both multi-digit multiplication and division problems.  Initially, this can be very confusing for students.  That is why I do not send math homework home.  The math we are completing in class is different than the math you and I did as kids.  There is a reason we teach the different methods to our students.  It is important that students understand more than just the algorithm.  They will continue to build upon each concept to solidify understanding.  You can help support your student in math by ensuring that they complete their Zearn.org homework each week as this reinforces what we are learning at school.  Also, students must be fluent in their multiplication facts through 10’s.  Please make sure your child is practicing these at home.  Thank you for your support!  It takes a village and I appreciate each of you!  🙂

We will continue with our story Ecology for Kids.  We will wrap up our Opinion writing activity and begin our Informative Essay.

Valentine’s Day

Typically for our Valentine’s Day party, We just have some special treats and the kids get to pass out/ look at their Valentine’s cards.  This is all they really want to do…so easy to plan!  🙂  I will be sending out a signup genius for treats.  Below you will find our class list.  I have told the students that they need to be sure to give a Valentine to EVERYONE in our class.  They will need to bring their own Valentine box.  🙂
